About the old town of Gamla Stan and its advantages

Gamla Stan is the historic centre of Stockholm, founded in the 13th century. It is home to charming cobbled streets and ancient buildings that will transport you back in time.

One of the most iconic landmarks of Gamla Stan is the Royal Palace, or Stockholm Palace. This grandiose Baroque complex is the official residence of the Swedish royal family and is home to several museums: the Royal Museum and the Treasure Museum. Nearby is Stortorget, the main square of the Old Town, surrounded by colourful Renaissance and Gothic buildings.

While strolling through the streets, be sure to check out the small boutiques, cafes and shops. Stengata is a special place to visit – it’s an opportunity to visit one of the narrowest streets in Stockholm.
